About the role:
Do you share our vision of a world where people of all ages and abilities are able to use digital technology to achieve their goals? We are seeking an individual to join our charity as Accessibility Director.
The ideal candidate is likely to have skills they've developed in a similar position or through managing a test team in an IT organisation or a professional services team in the IT delivery sector. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of successfully introducing new processes and functions to a team.
AbilityNet is an award-winning charity and our purpose is to improve lives by supporting people to achieve everything they can at work, at home and in education through the use of digital technology.
Each year we directly and indirectly help hundreds of thousands of people through AbilityNet's services of advice and information, accessibility consultancy, assessments, training, home visits and technical support.
IT accessibility is something most of us take for granted - many people with disabilities still do not have access to the skills they need to be inclusive citizens within the digital world. By joining AbilityNet as Accessibility Director, you can help our charity achieve growth and deliver the vision of a digital world where everyone is given equal access to digital information systems.
More about the role:
The job role has several key objectives including delivery of the revenue and surplus objectives for the charity's accessibility business, development and implementation of a strategy for the accessibility area of the charity and introduction of best-in-class processes and procedures to this part of the organisation.
The right candidate must be able to demonstrate success and experience together with a proven track record in a similar senior role. They will have a knowledge of and interest in accessibility and will have experience of project management, people management, process design, build and implementation.
