About the role

AbilityNet is currently looking to make three new appointments to our Board of Trustees. As a trustee of AbilityNet, one of the key requirements of the role will be to work with fellow trustees to shape, drive and monitor our charity's strategy. You will use any specific skills, knowledge or experience you have to help the Board of Trustees reach quick and sound decisions by leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or advising on other areas in which you have special expertise.

We are looking to appoint three trustees, each with their own specialism:

  • Finance Role: you will be a qualified accountant that has or has had a role within a financial institution, a charity, the public sector or commercial sector
  • IT Role: you will have or have had an information technology role within a charity, commercial or public sector organisation, ideally with an understanding and knowledge of accessibility
  • HE Role: you will have or have had a role responsible for student success in the higher education sector, will be innovative, forward looking and well networked with peers and sector organisations, with an interest in diversity and inclusion, and improving the student experience for disabled students
