What happens during a Needs Assessment?

Some people will be concerned that an assessment is a test of some kind - relax and rest assured it's more like a friendly chat. You've already been approved for funding and the assessor is there as an independent expert - there to advise you and make recommendations that will help you to succeed.

Our assessor will use their skills and knowledge to explain the equipment and other resources available to help you and you may even be given the chance to test out some of the equipment. If you'd like to know more about what to expect read our blog about what happens during a Needs Assessment.

By Bus

Nearest bus stop: College Green (stop Pa or Pb)

By Foot

Facing the Hippodrome on St Augustine’s Parade, walk left and you will find Denmark Street. Walk up Denmark Street and take the 3rd right, which is Orchard Street. The main entrance to our office is located on the corner of Orchard Street and Denmark Street.

By Car

We recommend that you use online route planning, such as Google Maps, using our postcode: BS1 5EH

From the end of the M32 follow the signs through the one-way system for the City Centre. Once you arrive in the City Centre you will need to be in the middle lane, which will be sign-posted towards Park Street and Clifton. Follow the road until you have the Marriott Royal Hotel and College Green on your left. Before you start the climb to Park Street you will see HSBC bank on your right - turn right here and you are in Unity Street which will lead into Orchard Street. We are located on the corner of Orchard Street and Denmark Street.

Our Fee

You will not be personally charged for this assessment. Our fee is paid for by your funding body and the fee charged by this centre for a Needs Assessment is £598.80 (£499.00 + VAT).

Our fee is inclusive of all work required for the duration of your study. If you take a break from studying, start a new course or provide medical evidence to your funding body of an additional disability you may be entitled to a Needs Assessment Review.
