‘See it Right: UseAbility’ accreditation
AbilityNet has joined with the RNIB to enhance their widely acclaimed 'See It Right' web accessibility logo. The new ‘See it Right: UseAbility‘ combines RNIB's See it Right expert accessibility assessment with accessibility and usability testing carried out by our panel of web users with disabilities.
This new assessment brings together the expertise and experience of the top two organisations offering web accessibility services in the UK. Sites which pass the accreditation process can display the new logo to show a website is both usable by the widest audience possible and, in our expert opinion, complies with the Disability Discrimination Act.
The accreditation process
You will receive two reports, an audit of your website by the RNIB and the findings of the disabled user testing carried out by AbilityNet.
Once the requirements in these initial reports have been implemented we will recheck your site to ensure compliance. This service is free of charge if done within six months of us issuing the reports.
The ‘See it Right: UseAbility’ logo is valid for twelve months. At the end of the year the site must be submitted for a follow-up audit to be eligible to carry the logo for a further year.
"The DRC published a report which highlighted that nearly half the issues encountered by disabled testers of websites would not have been identified by an audit of a site's code alone. The inclusive approach used by the new 'See it Right: UseAbility' award scheme therefore builds on these findings and makes a positive contribution toward improving web accessibility for disabled people."
Bob Niven, Chief Executive, DRC
