Microsoft Announce Support for ARIA
The hot news this week is that Microsoft have announced there will be support for WAI ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) Syntax in Internet Explorer 8.
ARIA is essential to the future of accessible applications on the internet as it enables developers to define custom controls correctly. This in turn means that access technologies can understand them.
Public Bodies Face Assistive Technology Legal Action
An increasing amount of research shows that large numbers of staff with dyslexia and other disabilities can benefit from assistive technology. According to a leading analyst this means that public sector bodies face the likelihood of legal action in 2008 or 2009 under the Disability Discrimination Act.
RoboBraille
An email-based service which translates electronic documents into Braille or synthetic speech has won the British Computer Society's 2007 Social Contribution Award.
RoboBraille is a free service and currently supports seven languages. It was developed by a consortium led by the Danish National Centre for Visual Impairment for Children and Youth.
JAWS and WindowEyes Keystrokes for Flash and PDF

W3C XML is Ten
To celebrate ten years of XML, the W3C are inviting folks to send a greeting to tell them about an XML-related blog or article. The greeting card form will be open until 31st December 2008 so there is plenty of time to send your stuff!
