Creating accessible documents
Websites often include downloadable documents in various formats such as Word, PowerPoint and PDF. Unfortunately these documents are commonly created without considering accessibility.
Course aim
Our in-house Creating accessible documents course helps you design and create accessible documents in all the most popular formats.
Duration
The course lasts for half a day – typically 10.00am to 1.00pm, or 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Audience
This course is intended for anyone who needs to know about the basics of creating accessible documents, including web managers, web editors, developers, designers and admin staff required to create content for the web.
Course content
The course teaches you how to:
- optimise Word documents to make them accessible
- optimise Word documents for PDF conversion
- optimise PowerPoint presentations for accessibility
- convert a Word document to an accessible PDF
- check PDFs for accessibility
- make an existing PDF accessible
- use Acrobat Professional to make PDFs accessible
It also covers:
- how screen readers and other access technologies read Word, PowerPoint and PDF documents
- best practice guidelines for creating accessible documents
