What is the Remote Assessment Project for Scotland (RAPS)?
RAPS is a project, funded partly by the Big Lottery Fund and learndirect scotland, and run by AbilityNet Scotland. It commenced in December 2005 and will run for 3 years. The project aims to provide better access to computers for people with a range of difficulties and by establishing remote assessment capability in centres across every region in Scotland we aim to increase the number of individuals who can benefit from the use of ICT.
What does RAPS do?
- Seeks to use technology more effectively to help people use ICT (Information and Communications Technology).
- Reaches out beyond the main cities to cover the whole of Scotland.
- Touches the majority, not the minority.
- Seeks to help you demonstrate that you understand your responsibilities under the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) and SENDA (Special Educational Needs and Disability Act).
- Builds a network of experience across Scotland that will change things for the better for years to come.
