Examples of our work
We are proud to have worked with so many disabled people and our case studies section will give you a flavour of the impact this has on people’s lives.
We also try to increase the impact on disabled people’s enjoyment of life by working with a variety of major organisations to support long term projects.
"AbilityNet has collaborated with Becta on the Communications Aids Project for the past three years. Their staff’s support has been exemplary and together we have suported over 5,000 individual pupils. Without their highly professional advice and encouragement, the benefits now being realised through CAP would not have been possible" Chris Stevens, Head of Inclusion, BECTA
In Scotland, our Remote Assessment Project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund and learndirect Scotland to enable public centres to provide better help for their disabled clients, with remote support from AbilityNet.
"The DRC's investigation into website accessibility found that a lack of appropriate equipment and training prevented many disabled people from exploiting the liberating potential of the Internet to the full. AbilityNet is second to none in addressing these issues." Michael Burton, Disability Rights Commissioner
DSG International have also provide 3 year funding for further outreach at local level as part of their Switched On Communities.
We are also one of a group of charities supporting the ICT Hub to plan and deliver a co-ordinated framework of ICT guidance, good practice, advice and support for voluntary and community organizations, accessible at a local level.
