PDFs are one of the most common types of document on the Web and unfortunately are often inaccessible because of the way they are created.
Course aim
This course will give you the knowledge of how to create accessible PDFs from a range of sources with confidence and how to test them for accessibility.
Duration
The course is a half day - it runs from 10am to 1pm
Audience
This course is for anyone who wants to understand how to create accessible PDFs and is familiar with the basics of accessibility.
Presenter
Jon Gooday will explain PDF accessibility in a practical way with the emphasis on giving you the key knowledge you need to create accessible PDFs.
Course content
Topics covered in this course include:
- Key accessibility issues with PDFs
- The accessibility features built into PDFs
- How to create accessible PDFs step by step - using Word and the design package Adobe InDesign
- How to retrofit a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Professional
- How to test a PDF is accessible using a screen reader and the inbuilt Adobe features
- A practical PDF accessibility strategy
You will also receive a course pack containing materials covered during the day including a PDF accessibility checklist.
